Chuck – 4yrs – Male (RESERVED)

This wonderful boy is Chuck, a friendly and charismatic cat who is always keen to know whether you’ve come to offer attention, food or ideally both. Chuck settled into the cattery environment surprisingly quickly and it wasn’t long before he showed us his affectionate side. He is often heard calling down the cattery to anyone passing by and is always happy to make new human friends once he’s had a chance to get to know them.

Chuck loves fuss and enjoys spending time with people, but he can become easily overstimulated and will let you know when he has had enough. He has very clear body language and warning signs, making him well suited to owners who can recognise and respect his boundaries. In particular, Chuck can be sensitive about his legs, stomach and lower back being touched for extended periods. He prefers interactions on the ground and is not especially comfortable with handling or restraint, which can cause him to become unsettled.

While Chuck can be a little wary of unfamiliar people initially, it doesn’t take much to win him over. He can also be a little sensitive to loud noises or sudden movements, so would benefit from a home that understands this. He is also still building confidence with grooming brushes and can be unsure of them at first, although he is much more tolerant when plenty of fuss is included at the same time. Chuck has a fantastic play drive and loves interactive games, particularly those involving feather and string toys. Although he doesn’t tend to initiate play by himself, he is more than happy to join in when someone encourages him.

Chuck enjoys being around children, so we feel he could live with older primary school aged kids who can understand and respect his boundaries. He is not suited to live with dogs and a further assessment would be needed to determine whether he could live with another cat.
