Figaro – 8yrs – Male

This is Figaro, a gentle soul who takes a little time to trust, but whose progress has been incredibly rewarding to watch. When he first arrived in our care, he found the cattery environment overwhelming and spent some weeks tucked away while he adjusted to his new surroundings. Through patience, understanding and plenty of gentle encouragement, Figaro has gradually begun to build his confidence. Staff have spent time quietly reading to him to help desensitise him to everyday sounds, and it has been wonderful to see him become increasingly relaxed in our company. These days, Figaro will happily approach familiar people for fuss and attention, especially when treats are involved! Although he still enjoys having somewhere safe to retreat to, he no longer rushes away and is much more comfortable sharing his space. He enjoys calm, gentle interactions and will often come over to sniff your hand before accepting affection on his own terms, with chin scratches being a particular favourite.

Grooming and handling are still works in progress, as new experiences can be daunting for him, but he is becoming more confident with these over time and continues to make steady progress. Figaro tends to place his trust in some people more quickly than others, so any adopter should be prepared to give him the time and patience needed to build a relationship. While he has not yet shown much interest in toys, we hope that as he settles, more of his personality will continue to emerge. Figaro is looking for a quiet, understanding owner who will allow him to settle at his own pace and celebrate the small victories along the way. As such, we feel he would be suited to live with no other animals and a home that is adult only.
